Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how DetectVideo AI (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses and protects information when you use our website and AI video detection tool available at detectvideo.ai (the “Service”).

By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Data we collect

We aim to collect as little personal data as possible while still being able to run and improve the Service.

  1. Video uploads and URLs

    • When you upload a video file or paste a video URL, we process that content in order to generate detection results.

    • We may temporarily store the file, a generated thumbnail and technical metadata (e.g. duration, resolution, codec) to run the analysis and to debug issues.

  2. Technical and usage data

    • IP address (stored in hashed form where possible)

    • Browser type and version

    • Device information and operating system

    • Date and time of requests

    • Basic logs about actions such as upload, url_analyze, result_shown

    • These logs are used for security (e.g. rate limiting, abuse prevention) and for aggregate statistics.

  3. Contact information (optional)

    • If you contact us by email or via a contact form, we process the information you provide (such as name, email address and message) in order to respond.

  4. Cookies and similar technologies

    • We may use essential cookies that are necessary for the website to function.

    • If we use analytics or other non-essential cookies, we will inform you and, where required by law, ask for your consent.

2. How we use your data

We use the collected data for the following purposes:

  • To provide the Service and generate AI video detection results

  • To secure the Service, prevent abuse and enforce our Terms of Use

  • To monitor performance and improve our models and algorithms

  • To respond to your requests and support questions

  • To create aggregated, anonymized statistics about usage of the Service

We do not sell your personal data or video content.

3. Legal basis (for users in the EU/EEA)

Where applicable (e.g. under GDPR), we process personal data on the following legal bases:

  • Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) – to provide the Service you request

  • Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) – to secure and improve the Service, prevent abuse and create statistics

  • Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) – for optional features such as certain cookies or newsletters, where used

4. How long we keep data

  • Video files and thumbnails are kept only as long as reasonably necessary to run the analysis and to operate the Service (e.g. short processing windows, automatic cleanup after a limited time such as 24 hours).

  • Logs and technical data may be kept for a longer period for security, debugging and analytics, but are stored in a minimised and, where possible, pseudonymised form.

  • Contact information is stored as long as needed to answer your request and for a reasonable retention period afterwards.

5. Sharing your data

We may share data with:

  • Service providers / processors who help us operate the Service (e.g. hosting, storage, monitoring), under data processing agreements and only as needed to perform their work.

  • Authorities or legal entities if we are required to do so by law or to protect our rights, safety, users or the public.

We do not share videos or personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

6. International transfers

Depending on where you are located and where our infrastructure or service providers are based, your data may be processed in other countries. Where required by law, we implement appropriate safeguards for international data transfers (such as Standard Contractual Clauses).

7. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (e.g. if you are in the EU/EEA or UK), you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you

  • Request correction or deletion of your data

  • Object to certain processing or restrict processing

  • Receive your data in a portable format (data portability)

  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent

To exercise your rights, please contact us at [your contact email]. We may need to verify your identity before responding.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data against unauthorized access, loss or misuse. However, no system can be completely secure, and you use the Service at your own risk.

9. Children

The Service is not directed at children under 16 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.

10. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page indicates when it was last revised. Changes become effective when we post the updated Policy on the website.
